They were one of the first companies in the online ESL industry. Their students have 24/7 access to more than 20,000 tutors in more than 135 countries around the world.

The average student learns on iTutorGroup’s platform for three years, and more than 95% are recurring students month-over-month.

​

iTutorGroup is an “umbrella company” in it that consists of several different sub-brands:

​

  • vipabc - English language learning platform for Japan

  • TutorABC (red logo) - English language learning platform for mainland China

  • TutorABC (blue logo) - English language learning platform for Taiwan

  • vipJr - English language, mathematics, and other diverse teaching services for students in mainland China between the ages of 5-18

  • tutorJr - English language learning for students aged 6 to 18 in Taiwan

  • TutorMing - a platform for junior, adult and corporate Chinese learners worldwide

CLASS TYPES AND AGE RANGE

With iTutorGroup, teachers can choose to teach

  • only children,

  • only adults,

  • or a mixture of both.

​

The junior classes are 25 minutes long and are 1-on 1.

​

(No lesson planning, no talking to parents, no correcting homework)

​

Adult classes are 45 minutes long and can be 1-on-1 or group classes

 

REQUIREMENTS
​

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • TESOL/TEFL certification (or equivalent)

  • Minimum of one-year teaching experience

     

    They also suggest teachers should:

    • be enthusiastic and professional

    • possess great communication and presentation skills, and

    • be computer literate.

​

 

MINIMUM HOURS
​

iTutor Group requires teachers to be available for 10 peak hours per week. Of these 10 hours, at least four need to be during the weekend peak times.

 

PEAK TEACHING TIMES
​

Peak hours are shown below in Beijing time (UTC+8). 

​

Your fixed schedule is booked automatically by the system according to client demand. Please ensure you are available to teach the time slots in your fixed schedule.

PAY
​

iTutor group varies widely depending on qualifications, interview performance, length of experience and the country you are based in.

​

The company does not release the exact salary ranges and guidelines, but qualified teachers from USA/Canada/UK can make up to $24USD/hr.

 

APPLICATION PROCESS
​

Teachers WITH previous online teaching experience:

​

  1. Fill out an application form.

  2. Schedule a 10-minute interview with a company representative.

  3. Complete two, one-hour training seminars with accompanying quizzes.

  4. Create a profile, upload two introduction videos (one for children, one for adults).

​

Teachers WITHOUT previous online teaching experience:

​

  1. Fill out an application form.

  2. Perform a mock class.

  3. Schedule a 10-minute interview.

  4. Complete two, one-hour training seminars with accompanying quizzes.

  5. Create a profile, upload two introduction videos (one for children, one for adults).

MY REVIEW
​

iTutor group is for:

  • teachers who would prefer to teach adults

  • those who like variety in their teaching. (You can choose to teach both adults and children.)

  • people who already have a bachelor’s, a TESOL certificate, and some experience.

  • teachers with prior experience who are looking for another company and want to fast-track the hiring process.

 

Things to consider:

  • iTutor requires very specific hours from its teachers each week. (see above)

  • It is difficult to determine your exact hourly wage until you are finished the application process. This is because it varies greatly depending on education, experience, and location.
